Sautéed morels with mac and cheese and green beans

Sautéed Morels

Simple and delicious sautéed morels.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb fresh morels
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp pepper
  • 3 tbsp olive oil or butter (or a combination of both)

Instructions

  1. Morels can harbor dirt and insects. To clean them, gently rinse them under cold water. Or, you can soak them in salt water for a few minutes to help remove any stubborn debris or bugs. Pat them dry with a paper towel. If they are large you can cut them in half from top to bottom.

  2. Mix flour with salt and pepper in a shallow dish or bowl. Dredge the cleaned morels in the seasoned flour, coating them lightly.

  3. Heat olive oil or butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add the morels and fry until they are golden brown and crispy on the edges, about 3-4 minutes per side. Drain on paper towels, adding a little more salt if preferred and serve immediately.
