Chocolate Caramel Apples

Chocolate Caramel Apples

With all of the apples in season in fall what better way to use them than to make these cute chocolate caramel apples. Add some halloween sprinkles to make them spooky, cute and fun for halloween or fall. These are quick and easy to make, even with kids! These chocolate caramel apples are just as fun to share and eat once they’re done.

Chocolate Caramel Apples

Ingredients

  • 6 apples, medium sized
  • 1 cup dark chocolate chips
  • 1 cup white chocolate chips
  • 10 oz caramels
  • sprinkles for decoration (candy eyes are fun!)
  • 6 skewers
  • 1 cup toasted pumpkin seeds (or other nuts if you prefer)
  • wax paper
  • 1 tbsp cream or coconut cream

Instructions

  1. Wash and dry apples, insert wooden skewers so the apples stand up straight.

  2. Unwrap caramel candy squares and put into a small microwaveable container.

  3. Add both white and dark chocolate to small microwaveable containers.

  4. Melt caramels and chocolates in a microwave in 30-40 second increments and stir until melted. If the caramel is too thick add 1 teaspoon at a time up to 1 tablespoon of cream, and stir until you get a consistency you can dip or drizzle onto the apples.

  5. Dip and drizzle caramel and chocolates onto apples. Or with a spoon drizzle and drip on the apples. Add sprinkles while chocolate and caramel are still sticky.

  6. Sprinkle nuts onto waxed paper and gently set the finished apples on top so they don't stick. Let cool until set on the counter or in the fridge. Enjoy.

If you have any extra caramel or chocolate when you’re all done, I like to add some milk of your choice to the bowls and heat in the microwave until warm. Stir up and enjoy your own hot chocolate or caramel steamer.
